Maybe i'm one in a million people that notice other people tracing and smudging
This is one post that contains something I notice:
Alley Katze traced by another deviantARGHtist If you want to tell the world what you've found I advice you to gather enough info so you can get your article posted in this page
I've one article awaiting me for the future (because, yes, I work A LOT) involving a phillipine ARGHtist that left DA after I make her notice her tracings (bout 2 years ago) and she even made it into the Street Figther's tribute book by repaiting a picture of the known model : Jessica Stam.
Since it's frustrating to report arthefts here, 'till the point the cathegories for that are so confusing so you drop before you made the repot.
It's a good thing to tell the world these people that are making us, workers, look bad and all like cheaters.
Honesty is a rare virtue nowadays. please teach your kids bout it!!!
Don't forget to check

You Thought We Wouldn't Notice.COM

Coz if you cheat, people WILL know
I'm off
UPDATE::
How stupid can someone be! of course, she reposted the image without the camera data
Original photo Notice how it's the images are the same exact size too
now i'm off again, it was too funny not to show it
It would be nicer for the to get permission though...but >.< I know that the evidence is that ..and it looks like she really did trace it but..I like to give people benefit of the doubt..I dunno what to make of it..I'm tired.....and junk...yea
tracing is a nono..big time...>.< just don't post it on deviantart...ugh...stupid tracing people claiming it to be their own....makes me angery and tired..
There certainly is a lot of pressure on artists to copy other artists, though. I've been told recently to do it from editors of established magazines! To some degree you have to copy other people's styles if you want to stay relevant. I really hate that, though.
There's preassure in work, but you keep as truthfull as you can. i've been told for works too and that doesn't mean I've to. someone can develope a style from another people's style, but when that becomes copying an entire drawing or by parts, I knew just one case of a peson in real need of work for personal serious issues doing that, and it's not an excuse, but you've to see the the harm and attention the work traced gets over the original. you can choose to do it or not, and if you do, there'll be someone who'll notice...always.
Bout the editors, try changing them
Ha, if only I was in a position to change editors...
I like your term ARGHtist, btw.
FYI, yes, there are a lot of similarities between Oswald and Mickey Mouse. They were created by the same two people after all (Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks).
That artist who did the picture in question in this journal entry of the model by basically just using the "smoothen" tool on Photoshop could have said "I used such and such photo and manipulated it" and I really wouldn't see a problem with it. But they keep saying "I drew it! My drawing!" and that's just silly. Anytime I reference something, I make mention of it.
