Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Callibrate your Wacom tutorialHad you finally made the transition from intuos 3 to intuos 4?, or Are you rich to change into an intuos 5? Had you made the transition from a first generation cintiq to the new ones?. More levels of pressure will mean more quality to the paintings, am i right?.
Did you thought that by default the pen will it be like using butter on bread?, you try it for the first time and you love all of it, you said i have sooooooo much control on my strokes im having a blast. Then only to realize you only have total control of the brush but when you are moving it really slow?. But when you do quick strokes the pressure drops a lot of paint making you redraw tons of stuff?
Did you ever thought that painter its hard to handle with new tablet? Too much pressure? If it has more pressure why i cant control more easier the beggining of the stroke which is more crucial?.

A bit of advice for those who enter contests

After being in so many contests I learned this:

-If judges are not skilled with experience people, don't bother

-If the rules ona contest are too weird and over written, draw porn, orgy the better, you don't even have to draw well or color well, doesn't matter, you'll always win

-on a deviantart organized contest, the more animu you draw the better UNLESS you're godly skilled that hurts, then you'll win too...or not

-If you wanna increase the win factor, then research bout the judges, their favs gallery, link the names and nick. This increases your chances a 30% more but won't assure you a winning, unless of course, you draw porn.

-So if the judges are ex friends or enemies, don't even try hard, not worth it.
Lil persona experience: on a contest her in my country 2 judges that happens to be here on da, really n00bish people, placed me in a lower place coz they hated me for the visits you people throw me, who cares right? not even using my deviantart lately anyway. There's a weird thing bout egos on my country i'll never get to understand, super weird effed people.

-If you've to draw boys and girls, ALWAYS choose girls, unless you make a porn, then add 2 girls and only ONE basic guy, you don't need to know how to draw a boy anyway

-If you lose becuase there was someone better, learn form it and get better, if you lose coz it was a popularity contest,a 2skill doesn't matter", or a "show me your tits" contest then you've all the right to get pissed

-Judges put the rules, true you don't have the right to say anything if rules are crystal clear, but when those are tricky man...burn them in hades, I support you

-Always use the smallest chance to force you to improve, a contest or a commission can be a nice way so seize the moments

-DON'T use traced materials for contest, you usually get more feedback for it and you can get more easily caught, if you trace to learn, then DON'T POST IT ANYWHERE! and don't lie, we'll get you

-Always mind your own business, keep focused, adn yeah, there are always crappy art on contest, but you know what? they still have a chance to win because judges are after all...human

Hope this is worth of something for someone, also taking off my chest some shit I've been seeing lately that pisses me off

I still advice you not to draw porn all the time, coz it makes your brain numb and gets you propense to trace from photos and get kicked out from home

yeahhh.. I kinda thought the same thing about porn when I saw the winner for the master of zen contest. A ton of titties, of COURSE it would win. Oh well. I dont take contests too seriously and I just say hey I got something new for my portfolio to get more work. But it is irritating when they say "you cant do this" the person entering does it and they still win. "porn doesn't mean you'll win" but then they do porn and win....lol.. ah well, how it goes (sadly more often then not)

I'm actually trying to take it with more humor, so that's why I made a sarcastic journal bout it, and yeah, bout what you say "new add for portfolio" i actually scrapped my entry but i mananged to made a finished pic with "heroines" in it finally. What pises me off is that the contest winners broke the rules, in quantity of charaters and with the "emotionally themed" contest headline...emotions where?!. So far you are the one who got me just right haha

People that can get sarcasm are a rare thing. I think many that read your stuff just think you are attacking them (even if they have nothing to do with the subject or you don't even know them)
We have a saying here "ter rabo de palha" XD
Means to have an ass made of hay. And when you have an ass like that you're afraid it will catch fire so... you rather go attack others to take the attentions away from you

if a contest showes up in my messages i usily try to enter it, depneding. i cant dorw, but for some reson i still submit some work everyonce and a wiel that sucks.

althouhgt theres a contest i jest got a notice aobut with photos. someone will probibly win with a scantily clad woman in the backrond even thouhgt its for the undercover place thins ([link]) witch is some what of a speshalty of mine, considering i spend most of my time in them... well the historic ones at lest.

I remember entering a dA contest over 3 years ago: I had to make a comic from a script, and I made the art style interesting and put a funny visual twist at the end that wasn't in the script, but anyhoo. I didn't win anything, but I think the person who got third place had a LOT of pregnancy/inflation fetish work in his gallery, INCLUDED said fetish in his comic (ha ha, they were pregnant, that's the punch line!) and still won.
